Legends & Legacy Wine Dinner: Only a few tables left!

Seats are going fast for the Legends & Legacy Wine Dinner with Heraszthy Family Cellars on July 6th. In addition to fantastic wine, wonderful food and the combined entertaining powers of Ranjan and Val Haraszthy – we’ve added a variety pack specialty beers from Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon to our silent auction.

More about the beer: You may not be able to time travel, but your taste buds can! This variety pack of four aged specialty beers from Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon will take you back to 2014, when America was obsessed with Ebola and the Ice Bucket Challenge. These limited edition barrel-aged beers were purchased shortly after they were bottled and have been kept at cellar temperatures ever since. These beers are meant to be aged, which is why they are dipped in wax and boast a “best after” date on the label. While it may seem sacrilegious, we recommend mixing The Abyss and The Dissident for a special cocktail we call “The Abyssident.”

Val is donating a 3-liter bottle of something delicious from his cellar AND! there is a beautiful piece of fine art available to the highest bidder.

This fantastic painting has been created by famed Indian artist Uma Shankar, using a combination of paint and semi-precious stones. This piece is one in a series depicting scenes from the Madhushala Collection – or The House of Wine.

Tickets to the wine dinner are $125 per person, inclusive of 8.5% tax and 18% service charge.

Legends & Legacys Wine Maker’s Dinner

In celebration of New Delhi Restaurant’s 30th anniversary, Chef Ranjan Dey will be taking guests on an incredible journey through the exotic flavors of New Delhi Restaurant, with sumptuous wines from Haraszthy Family Cellars. Co-hosted by winemaker Vallejo “Val” Haraszthy, the Legends and Legacy Wine Maker Dinner, held Thursday, July 6th at 6:30 PM, will feature dishes made with a unique blend of 30 spices in tribute to New Delhi Restaurant’s milestone. Val’s enthusiastic discussions of world class wine will enhance Chef Ranjan Dey’s exciting stories of the origins behind each dish. As part of New Delhi Restaurant’s charity arm, Compassionate Chefs Café, the proceeds of the accompanying silent auction will go to the children of San Francisco’s Tenderloin After School Program and Gandhi Ashram in Manav Sadhna, India. TASP Kids visit New Delhi Restaurant

Once upon a time, Ranjan catered a wedding for a pair of wonderful people who fell in love. They found out about Compassionate Chefs Cafe and the Tenderloin After School Program and became supporters. Over time, those two lovely people had a beautiful baby girl. To celebrate their daughter’s first birthday, they chose to have a Day of Service rather than a party. Because it was their girl’s birthday, who better to help them celebrate than the kids of TASP? And where is the best place to have lunch? New Delhi Restaurant!

So many thanks to Shweta and Rikin for making a great day happen! Happy birthday to your gorgeous girl!

Take home a beautiful black and white portrait from Spring India Day

Noted Bay Area portrait photographer Hemali Zaveri will be taking old-fashioned black and white portraits in booth B1 near the main stage. Portraits are $15 and all proceeds will benefit Compassionate Chefs Cafe.

Help Us Transform $10,000 To $40,000

Help Us Transform $10,000 To $40,000

We have a unique opportunity to raise a significant amount of money along with the Tenderloin After-School Program. Two of their donors have offered to match our donations up to $100,000!

The money generated by this fundraiser will be used to relocate TASP to their new home. They have been in temporary quarters since the fire of 2012. Our focus will be helping to create an “Inventors Corner” in the TASP classroom. This area will be furnished with tools and materials to help the kids imaginations manifest into hands-on discoveries. Your donation may be the catalyst for the next big invention.

Please help us help the kids of the Tenderloin After School Program!

Compassionate Chefs Cafe is already donating $10,000 – which has been matched to become $20,000. We have until November 15th to raise another $10,000, for a final donation of $40,000! Of course, we would love to raise more than that.

Please join us in this generous and unique opportunity! Your checks can be written directly to Compassionate Chefs Cafe or use your credit card through our website here.

Please make sure that the ‘Compassionate Chefs Cafe’ is the target of your donation.

As always, your donation is fully tax deductible and 100% of the funds go to help the kids of the Tenderloin After School Program and the children of Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad, India.

Thanks so much for your continued support. Please contact me with any questions.

Nepal Earthquake Disaster Relief Collection

Nepal Earthquake Disaster Relief Collection

Compassionate Chefs Cafe and New Delhi Restaurant are partnering with Gupri Dosanjh to feed over a thousand victims of the 7.5 magnitude earthquake disaster in Nepal. We have joined hands with a local temple in Nepal to cook and serve these meals for a month. We are gearing up to send a container full of dry and canned food essentials like rice, flour, lentils, beans, cookies, canned vegetables, garbanzo, fruits etc, to Nepal. Our main request is FOOD FOOD FOOD… We will be assisting Dr. Chanjiv Singh with setting up food banks and making sure the temples can accommodate everyone for at least a month with langar (food). Also if you can get baby formula packets that would be great!!
We want to mention our gratitude to Christopher Kretz of the 5433-B Clayton Station Shopping Center in donating and providing a temporary space to collect and organize donations before it is shipped to Nepal. If you wish to donate, we kindly ask if you can also bring a large (4.5 cubic ft, 18″w x 18″d x 24″h) box or a medium (3 cubic ft, 18″w x 18″d x 16″h) box as part of your donation so that we can fill the shipping container efficiently. Donation can be dropped off with our volunteers on Monday 10am-2pm, Wednesday 3pm-6pm, Friday 1pm-3pm, Saturday 11am-2pm, Sunday 11am-2pm. Please call Ranjan Dey at 415.816.4068 to schedule a different time for donations if you cannot make it during above times or location.
Another critical item of immediate necessity are tents. These $25.00 waterproof tents not only provide shelter, but will keep the homeless earthquake victims dry during the heavy rains of the upcoming monsoon season.
A donation page with GoFundMe.com Heal our Nepali Friends has been started.
Please help!
