Traditionally, sangeet or the music ceremony, is part of the formal engagement that takes place a few days before the wedding in north Indian families, which is more of a `meet-the-families' affair. But, today, the concept is absolutely in vogue in all Indian marriages. In fact, the wedding is not complete without sangeet . And the new-age sangeet is a fun event taking innovative avatars such as `theme sangeet'. There is a typical theme storyboard where family members put in long hours of practise for the event with professional help. A theme of the modern Mughal-e-Azam is enacted by family members interspersed with old Hindi film songs.
